What does AVID look like at CCA?
AVID at Cochrane Collegiate is a step forward in closing the achievement gap within our community. AVID will create opportunities to place colleges within reach of students, while giving them the tools to be successful in their higher educational endeavors.
Will every student attend college? It is not likely, but the opportunity should be attainable by any student, regardless of ethnicity, financial status, or learning disabilities. AVID strategies will be used school wide and binder checks will be implemented consistently. Using WICOR and other educational techniques, we WILL bridge the gap for our students. |

Your AVID Elective TeacherI am Miss Lee, your new AVID Teacher. I am very excited about spending the new school year with you all and exploring the amazing world of AVID. Any aspect of education is like riding a bike. In doing so you must be consistent in practicing, you must take ownership, and you must develop a love for your bike. Sometimes it may hurt, you may fail and you may stumble but you get up and try again. But once you’ve learned, you’ll never forget. The characteristics you will learn in AVID are the same way. You must practice in order to be proficient. The tools will be shared with you, it is your responsibility to use them. We will gain experiences and this class will expose you to opportunities you may not be familiar with. I ask you to make the most out of it. Together we will ensure that YOU go far. Good Luck this year!
